Konjac (scientific name: Amorphophallus konjac) is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Araceae family, characterized by its tuberous roots. It is native to Japan, Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, the Malay Peninsula, and the southwestern regions of China. In addition to these native areas, it is also found in Vietnam, the Himalayan region extending to Thailand, and in various provinces of mainland China, including Gansu, Ningxia, Jiangnan, and Shaanxi. In recent years, it has been extensively produced in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou. In Taiwan, areas such as Puli, Yuchi, and Taitung also produce konjac, which grows at elevations ranging from 310 to 2,200 meters, typically in moist areas along forest edges, under sparse forests, and beside stream valleys.
